Disconnected: Going from Paper to Production

Greetings All,

As alluded to in our previous blog post, we are pleased to announce that our very first project, a short titled Disconnected, is officially on the floors!

 

For those who care to know, Disconnected was first conceived as an idea by Mandhir two (2) long years ago. Then came the treatment and the screenplay writing. At first, that seemed like the tough bit. Little did we know that the writing would be the least of our struggles. What followed was an unending pursuit for the right collaborative partner to take this from paper to reel. Numerous discussions that looked promising only to fizzle out, contract negotiations advancing albeit flattering to deceive, suggestions to change the script ranging from the very constructive to the very bizarre – we seemed to see it all. There were times when Disconnected was nothing but a heavily marked-up screenplay sitting on the cupboard that would be glanced at with a lot of “What ifs and What next”. It seemed like Disconnected was going to yet another in the long list of projects that never made it beyond ink and paper. And then finally, things came together! How exactly did they come together? Well, that’s beside the point and may well be the topic of another blog post. Moral of the story – for those of you out there trying to weave magical stories because you believe you can – keep on the pursuit!

 

On that note, we are thrilled to bits to announce our collaboration with Gul Panag and her highly affable/efficient team at Tittar Lodge Productions on this effort. We have put together a stellar team for this project which includes acclaimed Director Sohail Tatari, DOP Nigam Bomzan along with seasoned actors Gul Panag and Satyadeep Misra who form the principal cast for the short.

 

Created by Steadymind and helmed by seasoned Director Sohail Tatari, Disconnected challenges the very essence of “real vs virtual” connections, as they apply to the modern-day digital age, in ways not explored before. So here’s a big shoutout to the Disconnected Team as we move into the final stages of pre-production. More to come on Disconnected at the Steadymind Space.
